Neah Bay has the Best Salmon Fishing on the West Coast.
All of the returning fish that are traveling south to coastal streams and rivers as far south as the Sacramento River, are within range of our Neah Bay Salmon Trips. This Year the Chinook Runs on the Columbia River are forecast to be Great Again!!
From Swiftsure Bank and the Straits right in front of Neah Bay, we also can easily access all of the Salmon that take the left turn and enter the Straits on their way to Puget Sound and Canadian Rivers and streams. The average size is in the mid teens to low and mid twenty’s. Some of our Larger Chinook come in July and August when we venture offshore. This is where we find a mixture of 20’s to mid. and High-30’s. Very Exciting!
We are very Excited about the upcoming Salmon Season!
Because of the huge Forecast of Salmon returning this year, Our Selective Chinook Fishery (Two Clipped Chinook!) starts early June
This is a Great June Fishery
The 2015 Salmon Season brought us another one of the best Chinook Seasons in quite a few years. The return of Coho (silvers) was very small compared to previous years, but the return of Chinook (Kings) was definitely up. Our main focus is targeting King Salmon. Limits of Chinook came almost daily for our guests. That means we were boating 16 Chinook on a Daily basis. Because of the Abundance of Fish we were able to retain 2 Chinook in our daily limit.

It seems like every year the size and number of returning Salmon gets bigger and better. Salmon migrating to rivers from Canada to California stop and feed in the rich waters of the Northern Washington coast making Neah Bay a Sportsman’s paradise. Everyone is looking forward to the opening day! The Chinook (King) Salmon start out averaging in the mid-teens to 20 pound class and keep getting bigger as the season progresses.
As July passes, the concentration turns to the Coho (Silver) Salmon. We must release all wild Coho. It is not uncommon to land around 30 fish to get a dozen hatchery keepers. This only dictates lots of action. Odd numbered years (2009, 2011 etc.) are Pink (Humpy) Salmon years.
On these odd numbered years we are generally able to keep one Pink Salmon as a third fish with the two fish limit.
