In the mid 1970s, Delta Marine in Seattle Washington produced many Sportfishing Charter Boats, and Commercial Fishing Boats. These were the finest Charter and Fishing boats on the market. Delta became
known as a trusted builder of Seaworthy Fishing vessels, Sturdy enough to Brave the harsh waters of Alaska and the Bering Sea. In the 1980s, Delta shifted its focus to building the Worlds Finest Luxury Yachts. Since 1990 Deltas new construction has consisted exclusively of Mega Yachts of the Highest Distinction. Currently there are still many Charter Boats operating, which were built during Deltas Fishing Boat era. These highly sought after vessels can be a little hard to find, as the present owners are not too willing to sell. Because of Deltas Superior design and construction, a mid 1970s Charter Boat will perform as well today, as it did the day it came off the line.
The “Malia Kai” (Calm Ocean) is a 37′ X 13.4 Delta Flybridge Charter Boat. She is a Wide,
Stable, and Safe Documented Vessel. A major Refit in 2006 included installing Twin Turbocharged 267HP John Deere Marine engines. These were mated up to new ZF reduction gear. New Fuel tanks and filters
were installed along with all new Wiring and Electrical Panels.
The “Malia Kai” is equipped with modern Furuno Electronics for safe navigation and Fish Finding. With recent upgrades of the electronics in 2007, we upgraded the existing radar with a 6KW Furuno Open- Array. We added an additional 10″ display on the Bridge, and a 7″ Display at the downstairs Helm. A new Stand alone Digital Fishfinder was added as a backup. We also added a Furuno Autopilot to give the Skipper a break. The Cabin is heated with a diesel cookstove, and there is a stand-up Marine Head (toilet).
With her wide beam, there is room to fish 12, though we Never take more than 6 Anglers. This provides plenty of space and a more Personalized Guide Service not offered on larger Charters.
